This workshop will focus on the socio-linguistic impact of
educating Deaf children in mainstream educational contexts.
Special focus will be given to the interpreter’s role in cognitive,
socio-behavioral, and linguistic development through the
educational lifespan. Participants will incorporate taught
strategies and philosophies into their interpreting work through
guided activities, paying special attention to how the needs of
the Deaf student and demands of the assignment influence and
alter the interpreting process.
